204th Sheffield Guides

204th Sheffield Guides was founded in 1979. The Guide programme is for girls aged 10-15, and we are one of two Guide units in the Ecclesall district of Sheffield. In the District there are also two Rainbow units, for girls aged 5-7, three Brownie units, for 7-10 year olds, and a Ranger unit for the older girls.

Girl Guiding is very popular in Ecclesall, and both Guide units have 35-40 members. This is probably due to our busy and exciting programme.

Guides work in groups of 4-8 girls called Patrols. 204th has six Patrols. Most of the time they choose and plan their own activities; sometimes they work on activities chosen and planned by the leaders. Every term they also go out on trips to activities such as swimming, weaselling, bowling and roller-blading.

During their time in Guides girls also work towards badges as diverse as Confectionery, Geocaching and Upcycling, and towards themed Emblems. The highest award in the Guide section now is the Guide Gold Award, for which girls have to complete 6 Emblems and take part in an outdoor challenge. Prior to this girls worked towards the Baden-Powell Challenge Award, and we are very proud that lots of girls from the 204th Sheffield Guides achieved that award.

Two girls from 204th Guides receive their Baden-Powell Challenge Awards at Our Chalet in Adelboden.
